InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts Brand Honors 100th Anniversary of Mother's Day with Social Media Photo Contest

InterContinental Brand to Launch Contest for a Chance to win $200 in Gift Certificates at Seventeen InterContinental Properties across the U.S. and Canada

ATLANTA – InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts will honor moms this Mother’s Day and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the holiday with a social media photo contest at 17 of its properties across the U.S. and Canada on May 11, 2014. In 1914, U.S. President Woodrow Wilson signed Mother’s Day into law, and the InterContinental brand will host a women’s fashion hat contest to pay homage to the iconic and stylish staple that adorned women during this era.

In order to enter the competition, mothers must wear their most fabulous new or vintage hat to brunch or lunch at participating InterContinental hotel restaurants and share a photo of themselves wearing it on that hotel’s Twitter account or Facebook page using a special hashtag (e.g., #HatsOfftoMomsICLA).* The mother wearing the best statement hat will win a $100 InterContinental restaurant or spa gift certificate and $100 American Express® gift card.

“We aspire to create memorable experiences for our InterContinental guests, and this contest allows us to capture the heartfelt spirit of Mother’s Day in photographs,” said Debbie Grant, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Brand Management Director, the Americas.

The hotel staff at each property will select one mother to win the grand prize and will use the Twitter handle or Facebook username of the uploaded photo to notify the winner on May 12. Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 P.M. PDT on May 11, 2014. Please see below for the contest terms and conditions.

InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts Mother’s Day Social Media Photo Contest

Official Rules

NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.

InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts Mother’s Day Social Media Photo Contest (the “Contest”) begins at 5 A.M. PDT on May 11, 2014 and ends at 11:59 P.M. PDT on May 11, 2014 (“Contest Period”). By participating, entrant unconditionally agrees to these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding.

SPONSOR: Six Continents Hotels, Inc., an InterContinental Hotels Group company, Three Ravinia Dr., Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30346.

ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (and the District of Columbia) and Canada who are at least eighteen (18) years old and of legal age where they reside at the time of entry, take their photo in a participating InterContinental hotel and/or InterContinental hotel restaurant and includes the specified hashtag in the Tweet or Facebook post. Employees of Six Continents Hotels, Inc. and its parent and affiliate companies as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible. The contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.  Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the contest. Winning the prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with Facebook or Twitter.  By entering, you understand that you are providing your information to the Sponsor and not Facebook or Twitter.  Your social media will not be used for marketing purposes and will not be sold or given to any other entity by Sponsor.

HOW TO ENTER:
You will need a Facebook account or Twitter ("Account") to participate in the Contest.  If you do not already have an Account, visit www.facebook.com or www.Twitter.com to create an Account; creating an Account is free.  Please note that you must agree to comply with the Facebook and or Twitter Terms of Use in order to create an Account with these social media sites.

a.    Twitter:  During the Contest Period, tweet a photo of yourself wearing a hat to one of the 17 participating InterContinental hotels’ Twitter handles referenced below with the property-specific hashtag and follow the hotel on Twitter. Once you enter the Contest, you will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Contest.

b.    Facebook: During the Contest Period, visit one of the 17 participating InterContinental properties’ Facebook pages referenced below, “like” the page and upload a photo of yourself in a hat with the property-specific hashtag noted below. You may also tag the hotel in a post on your Facebook page and then upload a photo of yourself in a hat with the property-specific hashtag noted below. Once you enter the Contest, you will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Contest.

Photo Guidelines: 

•               The Submission must be in .jpg or .png format;

•               The Submission must not exceed 5 MB in size;

•       The Submission cannot have been submitted previously in a promotion of any kind.

Content Restrictions:

•       The Submission must not contain material that violates or infringes another’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement;

•       The Submission must not disparage Sponsor, Administrator or any other person or party affiliated with the Contest;

•       The Submission must not contain brand names or trademarks other than those owned by Sponsor, which entrant has a limited license to use to incorporate in his/her Submission in this Contest;

•       The Submission must not contain images or artwork not created by entrant;

•       The Submission must not contain material that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, tortious, defamatory, or libelous;

•       The Submission must not contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age; and

•       The Submission must not contain material that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to the laws or regulations in any state where Submission is created.

Limit: Each entrant may submit one entry. However Submissions received from any person in excess of the stated limit will be void. 

Judging: All eligible Submissions will be judged based on the following criteria (“Judging Criteria”) by hotel staff as determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion:

 (50%) Hat Creativity/Originality and (50%) Quality of Submission

In the event of a tie, the entrant whose Submission received the highest score on creativity, as deemed by the judges in their sole discretion, will be deemed the Winner.

WINNER NOTIFICATION: Sponsor will notify potential winner by private messaging the entrant’s social media account. The entrant will be required to complete an Affidavit of Eligibility (or if a Canadian resident, a Declaration), Liability and/or Publicity Release (unless prohibited by law) and any other documents required by Sponsor, which must be returned within 14 (fourteen) days of date appearing on prize notification. Return of prize notification as undeliverable, failure to sign and return requested documentation within the specified time period, the inability of Sponsor to contact potential winner within a reasonable time period or noncompliance with these Official Rules by potential winner will result in disqualification and, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, the prize may be awarded to the entry with the next highest score.

PRIZES: a One Hundred ($100) US Dollar InterContinental restaurant or spa gift card and a One Hundred ($100) US Dollar prepaid American Express gift card.  Approximate Retail Value for Prize (“ARV”): $200. Seventeen (17) prizes will be awarded with one (1) prize per participating hotel. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason.  Winner is responsible for any and all taxes and fees associated with prize receipt and/or use.  Total approximate value of all prizes $3,400.00 US

RELEASE: By receipt of any prize, winner agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor, Facebook, Inc., Twitter, Inc. and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies, and prize suppliers, and each of their respective parent companies and each such company’s officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Sweepstakes or receipt or use or misuse of any prize.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: By participating, each entrant agrees: (a) to abide by these Official Rules and decisions of Sponsor, which shall be final and binding in all respects relating to this Contest; (b) to release, discharge, indemnify, and hold harmless Sponsor, and its respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies, and the respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents and representatives of the forgoing (collectively, “Released Parties”) from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind (including intellectual property infringement) to persons, including death, or property resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or Contest-related activity or the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any awarded prize; and (c) to the use of his/her name, photograph, image and/or likeness for programming, advertising, publicity and promotional purposes in any and all media, now or hereafter known, worldwide and on the Internet, and in perpetuity by Sponsor and its designees, without compensation (unless prohibited by law) or additional consents from entrant or any third party and without prior notice, approval or inspection, and to execute specific consent to such use if asked to do so. By participating, entrants also agree not to release any publicity or other materials on their own or through someone else regarding their participation in the Sweepstakes without the prior consent of the Sponsor, which it may withhold in its sole discretion.

MISCELLANEOUS: Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, damaged, inaccurate, stolen, delayed, misdirected, undelivered, or garbled Entries; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing of Entries, the announcement of the prize, the incorrect uploading of the essay, or in any Contest materials. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to any person's computer related to or resulting from participating in this Contest or downloading materials from or use of the website. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Contest or website, who act in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner  or who are in violation of these Official Rules, as solely determined by Sponsor, will be disqualified and all associated Entries will be void. Should any portion of the Sweepstakes be, in Sponsor’s sole opinion, compromised by virus, worms, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes which, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play, or submission of Entries, or in the event the Sweepstakes is unable to run as planned for any other reason, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Contest and, if terminated, at its discretion, select the potential winner from all eligible, non-suspect Entries received prior to action taken using the judging criteria outlined above. Should multiple users of the same e-mail account enter the Contest and a dispute arises regarding the identity of the entrant, the authorized account subscriber of said e-mail account at the time of Entry will be considered the entrant and must comply with these Official Rules. “Authorized account subscriber” is defined as the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization, which is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTESTS MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES AND OTHER REMEDIES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS’ FEES) FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.

Entrant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Sweepstakes or any prizes awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia (or the appropriate Georgia State Court located in Dekalb County, Georgia; and (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering any Sweepstakes, but in no event attorneys' fees. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Georgia, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Georgia or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Georgia.
