  • InterContinental Hotels & Resorts properties in Latin America receive top awards from Latin America’s largest and most respected pan-regional business magazine

    Latin Trade's February 2005 “Best of Latin America” issue surveyed 110,000 of its readers to find the best travel-related services and accommodations in the top business cities for 2004. InterContinental properties received many awards including: Best Hotel in Guatemala City: Hotel Real InterContinental; Best Hotel in San Salvador, El Salvador: Hotel Real InterContinental; Best Hotels in Caracas, Venezuela: Hotel Tamanaco InterContinental; Best Meeting Spaces in Caracas, Venezuela: Tamanaco InterContinental; Best Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina: Hotel InterContinental; Best Hotels in Santiago, Chile: Hotel InterContinental; and Best Hotels in Miami, FL, InterContinental Miami.

  • Holiday Inn wins HSMAI Adrian Awards Best-in-Show 2004

    The Holiday Inn brand marketing team in the Americas was honoured with Platinum Award and Best-in-Show awards at the 15th Annual Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Adrian Awards for Advertising, Public Relations and Web Marketing. The team won in the Web Marketing category for its “Talking-Egg-A-Gram” application, which increased awareness of the Holiday Inn Best Breaks™ programme.

  • The InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta was recognised with a Silver HSMAI Adrian Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Individual Hotel Advertising Series Category

  • Holiday Inn Express wins two Silver HSMAI Adrian Awards

    Holiday Inn Express wins two Silver HSMAI Adrian Awards in the Advertising category for its "Stay Smart®" and "Be A Fan of Breakfast Again" television advertising campaigns which have consistently driven brand awareness of the Holiday Inn Express brand and the Express Start breakfast bar, respectively in the Americas.

  • 2004 President's Award of Excellence from HEDNA.

    The Hotel Electronic Distribution Network Association's (HEDNA), the foremost travel industry association advancing hotel electronic distribution, recognised Jim Young, Senior Vice President, Global Distribution with the 2004 President’s Award of Excellence for his strategic and tactical responsibility over global distribution systems, travel agent commission processing, database management, BTA revenue programmes and the company’s relationships with online intermediaries, such as Travelocity, Orbitz and Hotwire.

  • 25 Most Extraordinary Sales and Marketing Minds in Hospitality and Travel 2004

    Jim Young, Senior Vice President, Global Distribution, IHG, was named one of the "25 Most Extraordinary Sales and Marketing Minds in Hospitality and Travel" by the HSMAI on behalf of IHG’s work on the third-party internet standard.

  • Staybridge Suites wins the 4th Quarter 2004 Market Metrix Hospitality Index (MMHI) for its segment

    Staybridge Suites ranked highest in customer satisfaction among all Hotels and the Extended Stay segment. This winning customer satisfaction score ranks first among all brands throughout the hotel industry. Based on 35,000 customer interviews, the MMHI is the largest and most in-depth measure of hotel, airline and car rental performance available today.

  • InterContinental Hotels & Resorts was named World’s Leading Hotel Group at the 11th World Travel Awards on 11 December 2004

    Candidates for nomination are based upon the previous year’s voting. Travel agents in over 200 countries around the world cast the votes.

  • Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts Scores Top Marks with Business Travellers in Asia Pacific & in the World

    For the second year in a row, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts scores top marks with business travellers as it was voted the Best Mid-Market Hotel Brand in Asia Pacific and in the World in the 2004 Business Traveller Asia Pacific Readers' Poll. By winning this prestigious award, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts was recognised for its dedication to delivering the service standards that its guests expect and appreciate. A total of close to 10,000 subscribers of Business Traveller Asia Pacific were polled in an online survey.

    Willard InterContinental named in Travel + Leisure Magazine's Ultimate Guide to the 500 Greatest Hotels in the World. The Grand, Historic Willard InterContinental is featured for fabulous public spaces and popularity with political figures for the coveted Travel + Leisure's 2004 Ultimate Guide to the 500 Greatest Hotels in the World.

  • Holiday Inn was selected by the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) to receive the 2004 Odyssey Award in the publicity category for the brand's Towel Amnesty Day PR and marketing campaign

    The awards are given annually to those select few that have demonstrated originality, creativity and effectiveness.

  • Candlewood Suites received the highest ranking (in a tie) in the extended stay segment for guest satisfaction in the recent J.D. Power and Associates 2004 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study

    Candlewood Suites received a satisfaction index of 809 and was one of only five hotel brands out of 64 that had a score of above 800.

  • Holiday Inn Express wins 2004 Gold Effie® Award for "Stay Smart" Campaign

    Holiday Inn Express earned its fifth American Marketing Association EFFIE Award in six years for the continued achievement of its "Stay Smart®" advertising campaign. Holiday Inn Express is the first hotel brand ever to be awarded an EFFIE in the "Sustained Success" category since its inception.

  • Priority Club Rewards Wins Six Freddie Awards for 2004

    Priority Club Rewards, the loyalty programme for InterContinental Hotels Group, recently earned six first-place awards and eight second-place awards at the 2004 Freddie Awards, the most prestigious consumer-generated awards in the travel industry. Overall, the programme placed in 14 of 16 award categories.

  • Crowne Plaza wins PRSA Bronze Anvil Award for “The Place to Meet”

    Crowne Plaza received a PRSA Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation for Media Relations Business to Business – Professional and/or Financial Services. The judges evaluated 844 entries in many different categories and only a total of 69 commendations were awarded in total for all of the categories combined.

Not only did IHG win the top spot but its branded sites achieved the number two, three and four spots. IHG’s website is 60% faster than the closest hotel competitor (Hilton.com) website and over 100% faster than the speediest online travel agency website (Hotels.com).
