  • 2002 Gold List of the World's Best Places to Stay

    The Willard InterContinental in Washington DC was ranked the Number 1 hotel in Washington by Condé Nast Traveller's 2002 Gold List of the World's Best Places to Stay.

  • InterContinental Miami wins the 2002 Planners' Choice Award

    The readers of Meeting News selected the InterContinental Miami for the 2002 Planners' Choice Award.

  • Freddie Awards Winner

    Priority Club® Rewards won coveted honours, by being awarded the Best Hotel Loyalty Programme Web Site (International) at the prestigious 2002 Freddie Awards by the readers of InsideFlyer Magazine.

  • Business Traveller Magazine

    In the October 2002 edition of Business Traveller, the Barclay InterContinental New York was ranked the third Best Business Hotel in North America.

  • BrandWeek Magazine

    In the17 June 2002 edition of BrandWeek, two Six Continents Hotels brands, Holiday Inn and InterContinental, were named “Superbrands” in the travel category. Holiday Inn was ranked number one in overall brand equity, which is a combination of brand quality and brand saliency.

  • Condé Nast Traveler Magazine

    In January 2002, for the third year in a row, the Willard InterContinental hotel received the top rating as the finest of Washington D.C.'s five deluxe hotel properties in the Condé Nast Traveler Gold List, a list for which more than 29,000 magazine subscribers cast votes.

    Holiday Inn Express was named top hotel brand in its segment for Business Travel News. The Business Travel News Top U.S. Hotel Chain Survey is an annual measure of corporate travel planners opinions of the properties their companies and clients use.

  • EFFIE Awards

    Holiday Inn Express won a gold EFFIE for its Stay Smart® campaign, marking the third consecutive EFFIE the campaign has won.

  • Travel Industry Association 2001 Odyssey Awards

    The Holiday Inn Express brand received an Odyssey Award from the Travel Industry Association for its Stay Smart® campaign. The Odyssey Awards recognise excellence and exceptional achievements in travel and tourism.

  • Franchise Times

    Holiday Inn was recognised in 2001 by Franchise Times as a Top 100 Franchise Chain.

  • Raleigh Mayor's Committee for Persons with Disabilities

    Six Continents Hotels’ Raleigh, N.C., reservation centre received the 2001 Employer of the Year Award (large employer category), which confers statewide recognition on employers for outstanding achievements in hiring and promoting people with disabilities.

    Holiday Inn was voted, for the third consecutive year, the leading choice hotel brand for German Business Travellers.

    Six Continents Hotels identified as one of the 57 "world-class" firms that received an Overall Market Effectiveness Capability rating of 65 or above. The results of the Competitive Fitness Global Survey was published by Financial Times Management in London in December 1998.
