Respecting local culture, being sensitive to the needs of the surrounding community, looking for ways they can benefit from our presence, and sharing the local culture with our guests are all part of our commitment to responsible tourism. Such thinking inspired the development of our online sustainability tool, Green Engage, which includes an easy to use guide on community support.
The guide recommends actions such as forming partnerships with local businesses, employing local people, leading on diversity and accessibility. For example, simply spending locally is one way to make a difference. In 2008, we also revisited our human rights policy to ensure that we continue to drive community thinking into our business and include our business partners.
