Staybridge Suites appoints General Manager for first UK property
Wayne Adroliakos has been appointed as General Manager of the UK's first upscale extended-stay hotel, Staybridge Suites Liverpool, which is due to open in June 2008.
With 17 years experience within the hospitality industry, Wayne joins Staybridge Suites InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) - from Bridgestreet Apartments in Leeds where he also held the position of General Manager.
John Wagner, Vice President of Staybridge Suites Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), believes that Wayne's combination of strong interpersonal skills and hands-on management style reflect the hotel's social, yet businesslike, feel and will make Wayne ideally suited for the role. John explained: "The role of General Manager at the first Staybridge Suites in the UK is a hugely important one. Being an extended-stay hotel, Wayne will be required to build long-lasting relationships with our temporary residents and help create the homely atmosphere that has made the brand such a success in the Americas.
"Our guests traditionally stay from a few days to a month, although our properties attract those requiring accommodation for several months, if not years. One of the unique features of the brand is the informal four times a week after work reception, which encourages guests to mingle in the hub kitchen gathering area and facilitates networking opportunities. As such, Wayne's interactive approach will enable him to work closely with his team to maintain the welcoming environment that makes guests truly feel at home at Staybridge Suites."
Having begun his career in the hospitality industry in Botswana as a trainee manager in 1991, Wayne has since worked his way up through the ranks. Wayne completed a four-year stint in Zimbabwe at Ramambo Lodge, Bizarre Bar and Grill and Explorers Bar and Restaurant before moving to the UK, taking a position as Partner and General Manager at the Blue Hawaii restaurant in Kingston-upon-Thames.
Following a successful front of house career with Park Plaza Hotels, his career at Bridgestreet saw him open Residence 6* and the Leeds serviced apartments, developing successful marketing campaigns for the properties; the perfect precursor for Staybridge Suite extended-stay Wayne comments: "I am incredibly excited about my role as General Manager at Staybridge Suites in Liverpool. I think that the brand really fills a gap in the market and its' contemporary style and spirited approach will be warmly received within the UK. I am also very much looking forward to the extended-stay element of the hotel as I believe that it perfectly matches my core skills and experience, giving me a chance to build a relationship with our extended-stay residents and introduce new aspects to the hotel market. I am also looking forward to living and working in the Capital of Culture, Liverpool, a city that is already expanding in terms of tourism levels and business amenities."
The hotel will be open for business for in early June and is currently taking bookings. For more information, visit www.staybridge.co.uk or call 0800 988 4663.
