China's biggest photo exhibition kicks off at the Great Wall

Beijing, 26 September 2010 - Holiday Inn marked its global "Stay You" campaign with the largest ever photography exhibition at the Great Wall of China.

Organised in partnership with Xitek.com, the world's largest Chinese photography portal, the "Stay You" photography exhibition is the biggest of its kind in China.

It is the first time that the Great Wall - one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the greatest source of national pride - is hosting such a photo exhibition.

People submitted photographs that show them being themselves. Nearly 10,000 submissions were received over a six-week period.  After a thorough selection process conducted by a panel of professional judges, 106 winning entries will be presented in the Great Wall inaugural exhibition. This event is expected to attract tens of thousands of participants today.

China's biggest photography exhibition ever

  • Biggest number of photos: nearly 300 entries will be exhibited in 15 cities throughout China.
  • Biggest number of professional photographers: China's master photographer Xiao Quan accompanied by nearly 50 other famous photographers from China and abroad will exhibit their work alongside 100 photography enthusiasts who submitted their work online based on the theme of "Stay You".
  • Most diverse exhibition: event combining international renowned photographers from USA, France, Italy and Norway and Chinese top photographers invited to exhibit their work; photography enthusiasts' works selected from an online contest worldwide; and a photo collection compiled by Holiday Inn' staff.
  • Largest number of visitors: The Great Wall inaugural exhibition as well as the subsequent 15 exhibitions across China are expected to attract the highest number of visitors for any themed photography exhibition in China.

The showcase piece, to be unveiled later in the exhibition, was created by China's top portrait photographer, Xiao Quan. "When I capture a moment with the lens, I work to expose the essence of my subject," he said. "My piece, discloses a lady's fundamental true being: she is relaxed, and just being herself."

"The Holiday Inn brand was again recently voted by business travelers as the best mid-market hotel brand in both Asia Pacific and in the world for the tenth consecutive year.  Every three seconds somewhere in the world, a guest will check into a Holiday Inn. They love our friendly service, comfort and value and they want a place where they can be truly themselves. We are very pleased to hold this photo exhibition as a tribute to them," said Keith Barr, managing director of IHG Greater China.

The US$1 billion global programme to refresh the brand means that business and leisure travellers find that Holiday Inn offers even better quality and service. They will enjoy the new brand identities, contemporary lobbies and improved guest room facilities. Over 3,000 Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels will complete the programme by the end of 2010.

The 71 Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts and Holiday Inn Express in Greater China will be joined by another 40 hotels under these brands to open in the next 3 years with the new, refreshed and contemporary look.

While the brand relaunch focuses on uplifting the hotels' physical quality and services, the "Stay You" campaign pay tribute to all its guests and their individual lifestyle and needs.

Holiday Inn is an Official London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Partner and will apply its hospitality expertise at all stages of these Games to deliver a warm welcome to everyone.
