'Skinny' burgers designed for Fashion Week
The InterContinental London Park Lane is introducing a ‘skinny' burger to its menu during London Fashion Week to cater for fashionistas counting the calories.
The new slimline buffalo steak burger has just 143 calories and 2.4 grams of fat, compared to 9.2 grams in a normal burger. The skinny burger is also lower in cholesterol. Body conscious guests can now enjoy a delicious burger that has fewer calories than the average sushi lunch.
The new skinny burger has been created by InterContinental London Park Lane chef Paul Bates and is made from finely hand-minced buffalo steak, mixed with onions, spices and herbs. The burger is dry grilled and topped with a baby gem lettuce leaf, ribbons of cucumber and cherry tomatoes. It is decorated with sugar free salsa, raw baby shallots, and coriander cress and served in the centre of a glass plate.
The skinny burger is available in the bar and lounge at the InterContinental London Park Lane for one week only, between 17 September and 22 September 2010 to coincide with London Fashion Week. The skinny burger comes with a glass of wild berry iced tea and is priced at £20.
Bates says: "This is no oxymoron, I took time to develop something that really works; the skinny burger is perfect for fashionistas who want a tasty treat without the calorie guilt."
There are 168 InterContinental hotels around the world and 62 in the development pipeline, which includes the InterContinental London Westminster set to open in late 2011.
