IHG Stands Out Again as the “Best” by Receiving Premium Awards

China Hotel Investment Conference (CHIC) awards IHG "International Hospitality Excellence Award 2011"

SHANGHAI - IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), the world's largest international hotel company, was recently awarded the "International Hospitality Excellence Award 2011" at the China Hotel Investment Conference (CHIC), organised by leading global hotel consulting firm HVS. This award demonstrates the industry-wide recognition of IHG's long-term delivery of consistent best practices and excellence in development standards.

IHG also won the "Best Global Hotel Chain Operating in Greater China" at the 2011 TTG China Travel Awards - which IHG is winning for the third year.

Besides these, several IHG hotels were also recognised as leaders in their own market segment by winning in various categories at the TTG China Travel Awards:

  • Best New Resort in China - InterContinental Sanya Resort
  • Best Luxury Hotel in Shenzhen - InterContinental Shenzhen
  • Best Mid-Range Hotel in Macau - Holiday Inn Macau
  • Best Mid-Range Hotel in Guangzhou - Holiday Inn Guangzhou Shifu
  • Best Business Hotel in Shenzhen - Crowne Plaza Shenzhen

IHG had an excellent performance in Greater China in 2010. The RevPAR (Revenue per average available room) in the region has grown by 25.8%, ranking the first among our global market. We are thrilled that our commitment to provide excellent guest experiences across all our brands is recognised again by both the industry and our consumers," said Keith Barr, chief executive officer, IHG Greater China. "We continuously challenge ourselves to set ever higher service standards and innovative moves for the hospitality industry. It's very gratifying to see that our efforts are standing out in the industry."

Organised by HVS, a leading global hotel & resort consulting, valuation and investment services firm, the China Hotel Investment Conference (CHIC) is one of the most influential hotel investment conferences in China every year. The CHIC Awards pay recognition to industry leaders, rising talents and hotels that are raising the benchmark. They celebrate hotel development, best practices, industry talent and contributions to the growth of the industry in China.

The TTG China Travel Awards recognises the highest performing travel and tourism organisations, and are voted on by more than 32,000 readers of TTG China, TTG Asia, TTGmice and TTG-BTmice China. As TTG's readership consists primarily of fellow trade professionals, winners are considered to comprise the finest in China's travel and tourism sector, and the results also objectively reflect mainstream traveller's choices and needs.

As China's largest international hotel company, IHG has a current portfolio of 150 opened hotels, accounting for 14% of the branded hotel market as of the first quarter of 2011. And with nearly 150 hotels in the pipeline, IHG occupies one-third of the global branded hotel market. Its current five brands in China - InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts and Holiday Inn Express Hotels - are dedicated to bringing value to a wide variety of guests and have become popular with local customers in their respective target demographics. In addition, IHG is developing a new upscale China-centric hotel brand to further cement itself in China's hotel industry and better feed the needs of the local market.
