IHG signs first Hotel Indigo in Brighton
Brighton to welcome boutique brand Hotel Indigo
IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has signed its first Hotel Indigo in Brighton, Hotel Indigo Brighton – New England Quarter.
The 94-room property, scheduled to open in early 2014, will operate under a franchise agreement with Fourshore Ltd.
The new build hotel will be located close to the historic railway station and, like each Hotel Indigo property, will be uniquely designed to reflect the community, character and history of the surrounding area. The hotel will take much of its influence from the arches and the artist community that now exhibit beneath them.
IHG’s Chief Development Officer Europe, Robert Shepherd, said: “The signing of the Hotel Indigo Brighton – New England Quarter, highlights the brand’s continued strong growth in Europe following its introduction to the region in 2009.
“It’s a testament to the strength of the brand, which combines the individuality of a boutique hotel with the reassurance and reliability of a big hotel company. Hotel Indigo is one of our newest brands and has been a great success. We opened our 50th hotel worldwide last year and have another 47 in the pipeline, 13 of which are in Europe.”
Fourshore Ltd’s James Gonzalez said: “We’re excited to bring the vibrant Hotel Indigo brand to Brighton. Brighton is a lively town with a rich cultural heritage, having developed from a seaside village to the home of the eclectic artistic community that it is today. Hotel Indigo Brighton – New England Quarter will be ideally located within easy reach of the famous sea front and walking distance from the Lanes, where guests will find numerous shops and restaurants.
Every Hotel Indigo features a high quality bar and restaurant that is open to both guests and locals. All Hotel Indigo properties in Europe offer free wi-fi throughout the hotel as a brand standard. Hotels also offer 24 hour room service and a fitness centre.
The signing of Hotel Indigo Brighton – New England Quarter, follows a busy few months for the brand across Europe. IHG opened five Hotel Indigo hotels in Europe in 2012 in many high profile cities including London, Berlin and Edinburgh. Pipeline cities, including St Petersburg, Cannes and Düsseldorf, will open in the next few years. There are currently 11 Hotel Indigo properties open in Europe with a further 13 in the pipeline*.
