Hotel Indigo Brand® Returns to its Roots with Third Location in Atlanta
Boutique Brand to Move In to Downtown Atlanta Neighborhood in Fall 2015
ATLANTA – InterContinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) Hotel Indigo® brand, which opened its first hotel ten years ago in Atlanta and now has 55 locations open in 11 countries, has signed its third hotel in the metro area, connecting guests with another unique Atlanta neighborhood. The Hotel Indigo Downtown Atlanta location will occupy eight floors of a building first developed 50 years ago by one of Atlanta’s most respected and influential architects, John C. Portman, Jr., whose real estate development firm, Portman Holdings, purchased the building. Portman’s architecture firm, Portman & Associates, is well known for award-winning architecture of urban mixed-use complexes and will again oversee architectural services.
“Downtown Atlanta is experiencing a surge in growth and development, and we look forward to connecting guests to the newly revitalized neighborhood,” said Mary Winslow, director, Americas Brand Management, Hotel Indigo. “The hotel will be located in the center of downtown and very close to the new Atlanta Streetcar line, making it easy to step out and explore. We are very pleased to be part of a new project in our hometown, and we’re excited about helping guests discover something new about the neighborhood every time they visit.”
The Hotel Indigo Downtown Atlanta hotel, expected to open in fall 2015, will be located at 230 Peachtree St. NE, near Atlanta gems including Centennial Olympic Park, the Tabernacle and the Rialto Center for the Arts. The hotel will be adjacent to AmericasMart, one of the world’s largest permanent wholesale trade centers, consisting of four buildings and more than seven million square feet of trade show space. AmericasMart hosts several trade shows throughout the year including the Atlanta Apparel Markets and the Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Markets. The approximately 200-room conversion property will have a fitness center, business center, bar and restaurant.
Every Hotel Indigo property is uniquely designed to reflect the culture, character and history of its surrounding neighborhood. This Downtown Atlanta location will have a unique neighborhood story that will be woven throughout the guest experience, from the locally sourced food and drinks served in the restaurant and bar, to the art, photography and architecture incorporated into the hotel’s design. Guestrooms will feature plush bedding, hard-surface flooring with area rugs, and spa-inspired bathrooms. Guests and locals will enjoy a great neighborhood bar with seasonal and locally sourced food in a stylish environment. The hotel will feature the brand’s new Neighborhood Guide, an innovative touchscreen display that connects guests to each other, to the local neighborhood, and to Hotel Indigo locations around the world. Hotel team members, many of whom are locals themselves, will share their favorite hidden gems with guests looking to explore and discover the neighborhood.
The hotel is owned by Portman 230, LLC, and will be franchised by an affiliate of IHG.
”Portman is delighted to partner with IHG in creating an exciting and distinct Hotel Indigo hotel in such a prime location,” said Portman Holdings CEO, Ambrish Baisiwala, “We have a long history of developing unique hotels, and look forward to continuing this work in partnership with IHG.”
In addition to this signing, the Hotel Indigo brand recently announced new properties signed in Miami and New York City as well as new or upcoming openings in three major European cities, Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg Tchaikovskogo, Hotel Indigo Madrid Gran Via and Hotel Indigo Rome St. George.
The Atlanta Downtown hotel will participate in IHG’s guest loyalty program, IHG® Rewards Club. The industry’s first and largest rewards program with over 77 million members is free and guests can enroll at IHGRewardsClub.com, by downloading the IHG® app, by calling 1-888-211-9874 or by inquiring at the front desk of any of IHG’s more than 4,700 hotels worldwide.
