IHG Completes Sales Mission in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 22 May 2014: InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the largest international hotel group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, recently concluded its second annual sales mission in the country. This year, more than 60 representatives from IHG hotels in Saudi Arabia reached out to businesses in the corporate, government and travel sectors to explore new partnership opportunities and introduce the new Business Club™ programme under IHG Rewards Club.

The 10-day sales mission, spread across three weeks, began in Riyadh and went on to cover Al Khobar, Jubail and Damman in the eastern region before concluding in Jeddah in the west. The initiative resulted in more than 600 potential new partnerships for 16 IHG hotels in Saudi Arabia, estimated to amount to more than USD 4 million.

Damian K. ten Bohmer, Director, Commercial, Middle East & Africa, IHG said: “Following the success of our Riyadh sales mission last year, we expanded the outreach to cover the Eastern and Western parts of Saudi Arabia this year. The 10 days were very productive for us in terms of breaking new ground and establishing new contacts in the five major cities we operate in. It was also a good opportunity for us to tell companies about our portfolio of nine brands under IHG and our new Business Club offering catered to corporate customers who book our hotels for conferences, meetings or accommodation."

Business Club™ was designed in appreciation of corporate bookers and meeting planners who choose to hold their company events at, or book their colleagues into, a hotel under the IHG brand. They are invited to become a Business Club™ member when they make their bookings and each confirmation entitles them to Business Club™ points that translate into discounted room rates or special offers for personal or corporate use.

IHG has a long and successful history operating in Saudi Arabia, having entered almost 40 years ago with InterContinental Riyadh. Its presence in the country has since grown to hold the most number of hotels in the region with 24 hotels (5,800 rooms), with another nine hotels to open in the next three to five years.
