IHG® Continues to Expand its Holiday Inn Resort® Brand Portfolio with Addition in Jekyll Island

$20 Million Renovation to Jekyll Island Resort Set To Open At End of 2014

ATLANTA – InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) [LON:IHG, NYSE:IHG (ADRs)] today announced that a Holiday Inn Resort® hotel in Jekyll Island, Ga., will be joining the brand’s growing portfolio of vacation destinations once it completes a $20 million renovation later this year. Once open, the Holiday Inn Resort brand will boast more than 30 locations across the globe with over 15 hotels in the Americas.

“We are thrilled that the Holiday Inn Resort brand is continuing to expand and building a strong presence in many of the world’s best family destinations,” said Joel Eisemann, chief development officer, the Americas, IHG. “This beachfront location in Jekyll Island will be backed by the quality and service guests have come to expect from the Holiday Inn brand family.”

In 2013, the Holiday Inn Resort portfolio signed a new property in Nashville, with openings in Deadwood, S.D. and Grand Cayman. The brand currently has over 15 properties in the pipeline with openings across key locations such as Big Bear, Calif., Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

The latest addition to the portfolio will be located on 1200 sq. ft. of unobstructed prime beachfront space on Jekyll Island, and is expected to have 157-rooms including 40 suites. Previously an independent hotel – the Oceanside Inn and Suites – the property is poised to be a major player in the overall revitalization of Jekyll Island, a historic East Coast destination. Once open, guests will enjoy a variety of amenities including multiple food and beverage venues, outdoor pool, Kids Club, KidSuite® Rooms, nightly entertainment, fitness center, business center and 10,000 sq.ft. of on-site meeting space. Additional guest amenities include access to numerous outdoor land and sea-based activities.

“We are excited to open a Holiday Inn Resort hotel in Jekyll Island, especially given the destination’s revitalization,” said Jason Smith, general manager. “The property is less than a mile away from the Jekyll Island Convention Center so we are able to cater to business and leisure guests and ensure we are helping them make the most of their stay here.”

The Holiday Inn Resort brand transitioned from the Holiday Inn SunSpree® Resorts brand in 2007 as a part of the Holiday Inn global brand relaunch. The Holiday Inn® brand family’s $1 billion global brand relaunch, the largest project of its kind in hospitality history, continues to drive increased quality and consistency across the global portfolio. The hotel will feature a contemporary image with emphasis on arrival and welcome services, guestroom and guest bath comfort, and a redesigned logo and signage. The Holiday Inn Resort Jekyll Island hotel, owned by Georgia Coast Holdings, LLC and operated by NorthPointe Hospitality Management, LLC is franchised by an affiliate of IHG.
