At voco Brussels City North in Belgium, the hotel has implemented a greywater reuse system that is designed to integrate seamlessly into hotel operations. The system collects and treats shower water from guest bathrooms and reuses it for toilet flushing. The technology has a compact, appliance-style design and uses filter‑free, chemical‑free water treatment.
By creating a circular water system within the building, the hotel significantly reduces demand for fresh potable water and lowers utility costs, without affecting the guest experience. This installation demonstrates how proven water‑efficiency solutions can be effectively integrated into hotel operations. Data and insights from projects like this are used to share best practice across IHG’s estate, including the water conservation guidebook launched for hotels in our Americas and Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia (EMEAA) regions, which sets out operational best practices and enhancement opportunities to improve water efficiency across key operational areas.
